Position: Clearwater Basin Youth Conservation Corps Crew Members (seasonal) (25 openings)

Position Summary: The Clearwater Basin Youth Conservation Corps (CBYCC) is now accepting applications for our 8-week, paid summer work program. As a CBYCC crew member, you will  work on a team with other area youth to gain skills and knowledge to prepare you for a career in natural resources. In this job you will spend your summer out in the woods working with partners from multiple agencies and organizations.  This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to earn while you learn and be part of a team working to enhance and protect our natural resources. Crews will be based out of Kamiah/Kooskia, Orofino, Pierce, and Grangeville. Compensation and Work Schedule: CBYCC crew members are paid up to $2,320 for 8 weeks of full-time work ($7.25/hr). Employment begins June 12, 2017 and ends August 3, 2017.

Position: Vegetation Technicians (1 opening)

Position Summary: The Clearwater Resource Conservation and Development Council, Inc. on behalf of the Clearwater Basin Collaborative project and in cooperation with Idaho Department of Fish and Game, is seeking field botanists to conduct vegetation surveys in the Clearwater Basin of north-central Idaho. These positions will be responsible for 1) measuring abundance (biomass) of forage by plant species using double sampling procedures that include sampling of plant canopy cover and clipping plants; 2) measuring forest overstory characteristics using standard vegetative sampling techniques; 3) collecting plant samples for nutrient analysis; 4) drying and weighing clipped vegetation; and 5) similar duties as assigned.

Compensation and Work Schedule: The pay rate for these positions is $11-$13 per hour, depending on experience. An additional $100 per week food stipend will be provided for extended trips. Vehicles will be provided. Expected working schedule (days on versus days off and hours/day) will vary depending on remoteness of sampling location and as such, technicians need to be flexible regarding schedules.

Position: CBYCC Crew Leaders (seasonal) (2 openings)

Position Summary: The Clearwater Resource Conservation and Development Council, Inc. on behalf of the Clearwater Basin Collaborative project, is seeking two qualified Crew Leaders for the Orofino and Grangeville Clearwater Basin Youth Conservation Corps (CBYCC) crews. This 8-week paid program will expose youth ages 16 to 18 to natural resource career opportunities while working alongside natural resource specialists. Each CBYCC crew consists of 5 youth plus a crew leader.

Compensation and Work Schedule: Compensation will be $16-20 per hour (DOE). The official start date for crew leaders will be June 5, 2017, although a minor amount of training may occur prior to the start date. The last day of the season will be August 4, 2017. Approximately 2 additional days may be required for reporting and cleanup purposes immediately following the program’s end date. Hours will be from 6:00 am to approximately 4:30 pm Monday through Th

ursday, although this may vary depending on project work and/or unexpected circumstances. Additional hours may be necessary on Fridays in order to prepare for the following weeks activities.

Position: Part-Time, Temporary Office Assistant

Position Summary: The Clearwater Resource Conservation and Development Council, Inc. (Council) is seeking a part-time, temporary Office Assistant to work in Potlatch, Idaho directly with the Executive Director in support of the Council’s fiscally sponsored projects. A successful candidate will be skilled and motivated to complete an array of administrative, financial and organizational duties both effectively and efficiently.

Compensation and Work Schedule: The pay rate for this position is $10-$13 per hour, depending on experience. The is a part-time position for 15-20 hours per week. The work schedule will be dependent upon the bill payment schedule and deadlines, but will allow for flexible days and times. This is a temporary position ending September 30, 2017, with the possibility of continued employment depending on funding and Council staffing needs.

Request for Proposals: “Keep it Simple” Effectiveness Monitoring Projects

The Clearwater RC&D Council, on behalf of the Clearwater Basin Collaborative (CBC) and the Selway-Middle Fork Collaborative Forest Landscape Restoration Program (CFLRP), is seeking proposals from contractors to conduct literature searches, collect data, summarize anecdotal evidence, perform analyses, and write basic reports as appropriate on specific questions posed by the Monitoring Advisory Committee. The premise of these projects will be based on a “Keep it Simple” philosophy meaning that we are not looking for in-depth research projects, but want the questions answered as simply and easily as possible while still being scientifically sound. The intent is to award several small contracts on a short term basis in order to get as many questions answered as possible this field season.
